SUMMARY:Why Make A Will: Free Webinar
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with Squiggle Consult who are Estate Planning Specialists\, we are co-hosting two Free Webinars specifically tailored to those within the Health and Care Sectors (26th January) and the wider public (22nd February) to help answer some of those questions that may have been in your mind about writing a will: \n\nWhat are the things I should consider?\nWhat about my business? How can I create a provision for it after I am gone?\nHow can I choose who to trust to carry out my instructions?\nCan I leave a gift to a charity or friends I love?\nHow can I ensure my children are looked after\, and what happens if I don’t?\nHow much will it cost?\n\nThe free webinar will help dispel any worries that you may have about any or all of the burning questions about writing a will and planning for a future where you are no longer around. \nDelivered within an hour\, this free webinar will be presented by an Estate Planning Expert at Squiggle\, Jodie\, and be an informative yet informal session designed to give you knowledge and the next steps. \nWhy should you attend?\nMaking your will is one of those tasks that is constantly on the back burner\, something that needs doing\, but then life and living get in the way! \nA study carried out in 2023 indicated that 42% of those over 55 don’t have a will\, and the scary fact is that if you die without having made a will\, you potentially risk your partner\, children or grandchildren not having the provisions for their future you may want them to have. If you are one of the 2 out of 3 people in the UK who do have a will already it’s worrying to learn that 1.5 million people have not updated their will since getting married\, making it invalid\, and 20% of people admit to `will blunders` such as still including an ex-partner. \nAs a charity\, we\, The Care Workers` Charity rely solely on donations and\, considering leaving a gift or a legacy within your will to the charity could be a lovely way of showing your support to the people that may have been integral to you during your life. Clearly\, there is a lot to consider on this topic and having an adviser who can professionally guide you is crucial. \nFree Offer!\nAll those attending the webinar on either day will be given the opportunity to work with Squiggle Consult to write a basic will; details of this offer will be given during the webinar. \nWebinar Details\nFriday 26th January 1pm-2pm\nRegister here: https://form.jotform.com/240103870111338 \nThursday 22nd February 1pm-2pm\nRegister here: https://form.jotform.com/240112710063337 \nHosts\nVICTORIA NEWTON-CUTLER\, CORPORATE FUNDRAISING MANAGER \nWith 30 years of experience working within the commercial sector supporting corporate and private clients alike\, Victoria has a wealth of experience in truly understanding needs\, through building genuine rapport\, she quickly develops strong\, long-term relationships and professional friendships. \nVictoria is naturally empathetic\, warm\, and friendly and loves nothing more than to use her active listening skills to really get to the root of her client’s requirements employing a consultative approach to support them achieve their goals. \nPHILL THORNE\, BUSINESS MANAGER \nPhill comes to us with a wealth of client and stakeholder relationship management experience. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the South Downs National Park you will put mind and body through the ultimate test\, as you tackle this serious endurance challenge. Walking this route is a serious undertaking. \nYour challenge will start from Beachy Head and from here you will begin to make your way in-land along the South Downs Way before looping back across the Seven Sisters to finish back at Beachy Head. \nDuring the challenge\, you will be led by our experienced support leaders who will be there to motivate and support you along the way. \nThe route follows the South Downs way and begins up on the cliffs above Eastbourne from where you will have fantastic views of the surrounding area before heading in-land and heading west. You will reach the Cuckmere river and follow this out to the sea before your final section takes you along the cliff tops of the Seven Sisters to the finish. \nNot for the faint-hearted\, this is a tough endurance challenge and should not be undertaken lightly\, however\, the sense of achievement is tremendous. The terrain is extremely varied and anyone undertaking this challenge should be comfortable walking similar distances. \nThis event registration is £40 and we ask that you raise a minimum for £500 for The Care Workers’ Charity

The Care Workers Charity is proud to host this event for the sixth year running. \nWhat is Professional Care Worker’s Week? \nIt is a celebration of care workers and the essential work they do\, created to promote awareness and raise the profile of care workers in the UK. From 18th – 22nd September we will be hosting a programme of panels and information sessions which will be delivered by care workers and care managers alongside some of the biggest names in Adult Social Care. To keep the event as accessible as possible all the talks and panels will be virtual\, so attendees can join from anywhere – and it’s completely free! \nWe encourage everyone inside and outside the sector to get involved either by attending a talk\, raising money or by hosting your own events to celebrate your colleagues. \nWhy is it called “Professional” Care Worker’s Week? \nCare is a highly skilled profession\, but on the whole care workers do not get the advantages of being seen as professionals. The fragmented system of adult social care means that care work is more often associated with low pay\, inconsistent training\, agency workers and high turnover. The current workforce crisis\, with vacancies at 165\,000 on any given day\, means we desperately need this to change. \nProfessionalisation means recognising the diverse skillset that people bring to the role and the amount of responsibility they take on. It’s about more than a qualification or certificate – it should also come with appropriate remuneration above the Real Living Wage\, ample opportunities to develop and progress\, easy movement between providers and importantly\, recognition of their immense value to society. \nFor people who draw on care and support\, professionalisation means higher levels of trust and knowing what to do if the relationship isn’t working. It means safety\, accountability and transparency. \nFor us\, Professional Care Workers’ Week is an opportunity to raise the profile of care workers in the UK and showcase the fantastic work they do\, while providing opportunities for learning and sharing best practice. \nWhat happens during Professional Care Workers’ Week? \nOver the last five years Professional Care Workers’ Week has been a fantastic focal point for our colleagues throughout the social care sector to come together and discuss the key challenges faced\, and to take stock of the incredible work of the workforce – looking at the ways we can best support them to maximise quality of care given to those who use the sectors services. \nThis year\, Professional Care Workers’ Week will shine a light on the work happening in the social care sector; exploring some of the issues faced by the workforce\, as well as those faced by the sector as a whole. Collaboration is at the heart of PCWW\, which provides a platform for people to share best practice\, experiences and to have discussions about topics such as the wellbeing of care workers\, skills of the workforce\, and cost of living crisis and ways to support care workers. \nAlongside chats\, panels and best practice sharing Professional Care Workers’ Week is primarily a celebration. A celebration of care workers across the UK who continue to support those who draw on care every day\, rain or shine\, global pandemic or not. \nWe are asking Care Providers to use this week to show appreciation for their teams by giving little tokens of thanks such as cards\, cakes\, parties\, certificates or any other way of thanking them. If you’d like to do something in your own workplace\, you can get more ideas by downloading our Information Pack. \nWe’d love to see what you all get up to so please remember to tag us on social media and use the hashtag #PCWW23 \nYou can view the full programme by following this link where you can also book your free tickets for any of the events[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]\n\n	\n \n \n Professional Care Workers Week 2023\n \n \n We’re not quite finished in our preparations for Professional Care Workers Week 2023 but please check back for updates soon.\n \n	\n	\n	Close\n[vc_raw_html]JTNDc3R5bGUlM0VpbWcuYXR0YWNobWVudC1mdWxsLnNpemUtZnVsbC53cC1wb3N0LWltYWdlJTIwJTIwJTdCbWFyZ2luJTNBMHB4JTIwYXV0byU3RCUzQyUyRnN0eWxlJTNF[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Professional Care Workers' Week
DESCRIPTION:The Care Workers’ Charity is hosting The Professional Care Workers’ Week (PCWW) in September 2022\, week commencing 12th September. 2022 marks the weeks’ fifth anniversary\, to help keep things as accessible as possible we have decided to keep this year’s event online. However\, we will be hosting a fantastic trek in the Peak District to round of the week on 16th September. The PCWW is a fantastic focus for our colleagues in the social care sector to come together and discuss the key challenges faced because of the pandemic\, and to take stock of the incredible work of the workforce – looking at the ways we can best support them to maximise quality of care given to those who use the sectors services. \nTo round off Professional Care Workers’ Week in style The Care Workers’ Charity is organising a stunning 25km trek in the Peak District. Event page here \nThis year\, Professional Care Workers’ Week will shine a light on the work happening in the social care sector; exploring some of the issues faced by the workforce\, as well as those faced by the sector as a whole. Our aims this year include to highlight and increase wider understanding of what it means to work in social care- and we look forward to hearing directly from care workers and care managers\, as it is important to us to have their voices central in our discussions. Collaboration is at the heart of PCWW\, which provides a platform for people to share best practice\, experiences and to have discussions about topics such as the future of social care\, how to retain and build the workforce and the rise of technology. Such collaboration is key to uniting the sector\, and is always a key aim of our event.   \nWe have a week long schedule of webinars\, panels and chats from some of the leading voices in the sector. \nWe are asking Care Providers to use this week to show appreciation for their teams by giving little tokens of thanks such as cards\, cakes\, parties\, certificates or any other way of thanking them. \nWe’d love to see what you all get up to so please tag us on social media and use the hashtag #pcww22 \nFor more info and schedule of events check out main PCWW page here  \n
